A delegation of OGRA headed by Mr. Muhammad Arif, Member (Gas) and comprising Sajid Rauf, Joint Executive Director (Gas ), M. Asif, Joint Executive Director (Gas ), G.M. Shaheen Joint Executive Director (Gas ), and Shahzad, Faisal Joint Executive Director (Finance), visited the Quaid-e-Azam Thermal Power Plant Pvt Ltd, located at Bhikki, Sheikhupura on 24.09.2020. During the visit various operational issues like efficiency of plant, applicability of take or pay conditions, GoP allocation and dispatch order, Health, Safety and Environment, billing cycle, etc were discussed. It was also apprised that location of the said plant was decided keeping in view the power load of the vicinity.

Subsequently field visit was also conducted during which various sections of plants were observed. The operation of the state of the art power plant having greater efficiency which is ultimately contributing in better utilization of the scared natural gas was appreciated. The availability of alternate fuel and its storage in tanks was also discussed at length.   

Member (Gas) also participated in tree plantation ceremony held at the Plant. Thereafter delegation called on CEO, Mr. Akhtar Hussain Mayo in his office and briefed him about the discussions held with the field staff deputed at the plant. CEO apprised that plant was erected by following best available international standards. He further informed that they have operation and maintenance contract with a well reputed company which is under contractual obligation to operate it efficiently.

It was agreed that officials of OGRA and Quaid-e-Azam Thermal Power Plant Pvt Ltd will hold meetings frequently for better understanding of the bilateral issues which will be eventually in the benefit of end consumers.
